| Welcome! |
We are the Northern Michigan Geocachers (NMG), established November 14, 2004 as a loosely organized group of geocachers who plan to get together regularly throughout Northern Lower Michigan. Meetings are held monthly throughout the area and are posted as an event cache on www.geocaching.com.
The groups main objective is coming together in order to socialize in a family friendly atmosphere, discuss our activities, plan and execute various larger events, promote the educational benefits associated with geocaching, contribute group volunteerism in our communities, forests and recreational areas, as well as increasing traffic at our caches. Our activities are organized through our regular meetings, in our online chat, and in our forum.
We are looking for pro-active and pro-participative geocachers from throughout Northern Michigan and beyond that are willing to help us reach and support the group's objectives. If you are interested in experiencing Geocaching Up North Style, please register and join the forum.
All we ask when registering, is that you please use the same username as your geocaching.com username so you will be known by the same handle both in the NMG forums and on the cache hunting trail. Thank you and Happy Caching!

NMG Newsletter - Early Spring Edition
Two words… Think Spring!
Spring is just around the corner and I for one can hardly wait. It has been a long winter and I’m having caching withdrawals. LOL
NMG has several events coming up that I would like to tell you about.
This weekend, Sunday, March 16, in Kalkaska will be “Bowl 4 a Smiley Take 2”. We had a bowling event in February but a snow storm kept many of us from attending though the hardy winter travelers trudged their way to the event. This event is a Take 2 at the bowling with hopes that everyone will be able to attend and the snow will hold off.
April will hopefully usher in spring time weather and the annual International Cache In Trash Out event weekend, April 19-20, 2008. Cachers from around the world host a CITO event in their communities on that weekend giving back their time to help clean up a park, trail system, river, or other area that could use some cleanup up. NMG will join in by hosting a CITO event in Alpena at Bay View Park on Sunday, April 20, 2008.
Spring will eventually arrive and with that we will celebrate with the NMG annual spring picnic! It is Saturday, May 17th, 2008 at the Oleson Pavilion on the Boardman River in Traverse City. Don't forget, this is one family friendly event you won't want to miss!
The 3rd Annual NMG Poker Run and M&G on June 6th will again take place in Grayling. This one fun event that includes a potluck meal and evening bonfire taking place later in the day. Be there for a great time!
For more information about these events, please see the links below.
We would also like to take the time to welcome all the new members to NMG. We are glad to have you as a part of our group. This is a great place to kick back, relax, and enjoy talking about the one thing we all love, geocaching! Make sure to jump into to the forums and be a part of the ongoing conversations or just say hi in the shout box. For the new cachers, the forums are a great place to get all your caching questions answered. For those that haven’t dropped into the forums in a while, please stop on by and get involved.
